About Bert’s Books
Bert’s books is an independent book store, both online and in the heart of Swindon’s Old Town.
While we’d love to see you in the shop, we believe that you don’t have to go to a physical shop to get good customer service and that the convenience of online shopping can go hand in hand with traditional bookselling. So, if you can’t make it, then this is the website for you, providing the same high levels of service for all your book buying needs.
We carefully select the titles for each of our bundles from the hundreds that are published each month – and every book that features in our bundles will be available to purchase individually through our store, so don’t worry if you miss some, you can still catch up on your favourites.
If there are any books that you’re looking for that aren’t listed in the store, let us know and we can order it for you – we’ll even add it to the store so you can leave a review and let others know about it.
Who is Bert?
Bert is the family nickname of our founder and owner Alexander Call. He spent sixteen years working within bookselling – both in a store and in a head office and in that time has read well over 1,000 books – so he should know a good book by now.
You can read his book reviews over on his blog Ramblings of a Frustrated Writer and we’ll make sure that the very best are available to buy here, too.
Asking him to pick his favourite book would open a long conversation about all of the books he’s ever read and all the ones he wants to.
